Tyler “Ty” Holmes
Vice President
Tyler “Ty” Holmes is the Vice President of Building Men and Women for a Change, where he channels his passion for youth development, community unity, and grassroots leadership into real impact. A proud resident of Hibbing for the past 12 years, Ty brings both personal and professional dedication to uplifting the community he calls home.
Ty first moved to Hibbing with his mother and brother, later graduating from Hibbing High School—where his leadership journey began. As a student representative for the school’s Native American group, he advocated for cultural awareness, inclusion, and youth empowerment. This early involvement sparked his desire to create spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead.
Soon after high school, Ty organized a free community basketball tournament at a local park. His goal was simple: give young people a safe, fun space to connect and build positive relationships. The event’s success reinforced what he already knew—community-led initiatives have the power to bring people together and spark real change.
Now, as Vice President of BMWFC, Ty continues that mission on a larger scale. He’s deeply involved in developing mentorship programs, creating opportunities for youth and families, and helping shape the future of the organization. His leadership is rooted in lived experience, service, and a genuine desire to give back.
In Ty’s words:
“I saw an opportunity to be part of a team that strives to uplift our community. I want to help create safe spaces, provide real opportunities for youth, and work toward a future where everyone has the support they need to thrive. Giving back to the community that shaped me is what drives me every day.”
Whether he’s planning an event, mentoring young leaders, or advocating for youth resources, Ty is driven by the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, succeed, and be part of something bigger.
